The premises of Punjab’s MLA and lawmaker Sukhpal Singh Khaira are being raided by officials of the Enforcement Directorate(ED). These raids are being carried out in connection to a money-laundering probe linked to narcotics trafficking and the creation of an alleged fake passport.
ED team that arrived from Delhi is carrying out searches at Khaira’s Chandigarh house located in sector 5, five places in Punjab, two locations in Delhi and some locations in Haryana as well. All these places are linked to Khaira.
ED carried out this action under the provision of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The property papers and bank transactions of Sukhpal Singh Khaira are being searched out to collect more evidence to carry forward the probe. Some arrests have also been made in this case.
In 2017, Sukhpal Singh Khaira was elected to the state assembly on Aam Admi Party’s ticket. Then he formed Punjab Ekta Party after quitting Aam Admi Party two years ago. Currently, he is sitting MLA from Bhulath in Kapurthala district. He was vehemently talking about the suspicious death of Navreet Singh, a young farmer who died on 26 January while participating in the ‘Tractor Parade’.Follow us:
